Ryan
Heatley's 2009 PA Buck
My nephew Ryan is home on leave from the Air Force. He was hunting with his Dad and others at their camp in Tioga County PA yesterday (12/05/09) They put on drives all day and only saw one legal buck. Right before dark my nephew went out with 2 other camp members and they spotted this buck, knew it was legal to shoot but didn't know how big. My nephew and another hunter posted on two benches while the third hunter tried to push the deer out to them. The buck ran out to my nephew and he dropped it with a heart shot from my Dad's 270.
I've told many of you before that we don't have many big bucks here in PA, but things are getting better. This buck is a fine example of what can happen if a deer gets some birthdays under his belt :-)
This buck measures 22 6/8" for inside spread, has a 5 6/8" drop tine, and gross scores 151 4/8!! Team Heatley is having an outstanding year!
Sorry these are the best pictures I could get today as it was after dark last night when I got the news. Enjoy, and good luck this season!
