Description
Our Newfoundland hunts are located in a remote wilderness camp in Moose Management Area 39 on the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. The area is assessible by float plane only and is located on one of the most densely populated Moose/Caribou areas on the island. We also offer a later Caribou hunt, combined with small game, in the lowlands for Caribou Management Area 69. We do flying and change over on Sunday, weather permitting. The season starts on the second Saturday in September and we operate for 4-6 weeks depending on bookings.
Your package will start on Sunday. You will need to arrive on the island on Saturday to be ready to fly on Sunday, weather permitting. This relies heavily on the experienced pilot to judge the weather and we need to be ready to fly as soon as he recommends.
The Wilderness location has a rustic log cabin facility with accommodation for groups of 4-6. It includes:
• Indoor washroom & shower
• Running water
• Full-time cook w daily homemade meals, breads, buns etc
• wood stove for heat and propane cooking
• mobile telephone for emergencies
• 8 x 12 ft meat shed with screens for airing the meat as it hangs
• Boats & motors for transportation on the lake
Licenses are allocated to the outfitters and are limited in numbers. They are reserved on a first come first serve basis and the deposit confirms the hunt.
